What is Building Carbon Emissions?

Building carbon emissions refer to the greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted into the atmosphere as a result of the energy consumption and materials used in the construction and operations of buildings. These emissions can come from various sources such as the burning of fossil fuels for heating, cooling, and lighting, as well as the production of building materials such as concrete. The type of building also plays a role, for example, apartment buildings tend to have a larger carbon footprint than single-family homes because they have a higher density of occupants and more shared spaces. Understanding and measuring building carbon emissions is important in order to identify ways to make buildings more energy-efficient and reduce their environmental impact.

How to reduce Building Carbon Emissions?

Reducing building carbon emissions is an important step in addressing climate change and making buildings more sustainable. The first step in reducing building carbon emissions is to understand and calculate the emissions associated with a particular building. One way to do this is to use a building carbon emissions calculator such as the one offered by NFTCar.

How does NFTCar Building Emissions Calculator work?

By using a floor thickness of 40 cm, the calculator can estimate the overall carbon footprint of the building. We use 40 cm floor thickness because this most likely will balance all the other building element's emissions, like walls, sealing, etc., to get an estimated footprint. Using average numbers of concrete emissions, building 1 m2 of building, will emit 1 ton/CO2.

What are NFTCar NFTs, and How do they Reduce Carbon Footprint?

NFTCars is an innovative solution to decrease carbon emissions by converting high-emissions cars into carbon credits using Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). We create unique NFTs for each vehicle based on age, mileage, and fuel consumption. By analyzing this information, we estimate the car's emissions for the next 10 years and calculate the number of NFTs minted by dividing the projected emissions over 10 years by 1.25 tons of CO2 per NFT.

Similarly, the building carbon emissions calculator from NFTCar converts the building's total emissions emitted when it was built into NFTs using the conversion rate of 1.25 tons/CO2 per NFT, each representing a reduction of 1.25 tons/CO2. This approach provides a transparent and secure way to track and verify the reduction of carbon emissions.

Why do we convert total emissions to fuel burned?

The best way to everybody understands their impact is by converting total emissions emitted to the fuel burned.
